Boasting stunning categorical upsets to moving musical performances from the likes of Billie Eilish, Ryan Gosling, and others, the OSCARs aired Sunday night (March 10) and delivered just what the doctor ordered to raise the ailing awards show even further out of its multi-year ratings slump.

Details inside.

Viewership = 19.5 Million

Updated Nielsen data reveals the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted 96th annual Academy Awards reeled in some winning numbers – an audience size to the tune of 19.5 million viewers.

For context, that’s nearly 1 million more than the 18.7 million that watched last year’s showing (which at the time was ranked as the most-viewed awards show of any kind on any network since 2020).

The ratings triumph also marks the third consecutive year of viewership growth.
